North Port

The City of North Port was incorporated in June of 1959. North Port is strategically located on the west coast of Florida between Tampa and Ft. Myers and is the largest city both in landmass and population in Sarasota County.  

North Port is only minutes away from some of Florida’s most beautiful beaches, including Stump Pass State Park, Siesta Key, and several others on Manasota, Casey, and Longboat Keys. North Port also has access to four airports in the area: Sarasota, Punta Gorda, Fort Myers, and Tampa.

Florida’s sunshine and warm climate allow residents and visitors alike to enjoy a high quality of life year-round. North Port is rich with archeological history and beautiful natural springs – including Warm Mineral Springs, which maintains an 85-degree temperature year-round and has one of the highest mineral contents in the world. North Port has more than 80 miles of freshwater canals. Golfing, boating, kayaking, nature walks, and horseback riding can all be done in and around North Port. North Port is also home to the Myakka State Forest and the Atlanta Braves Spring Training.

North Port has 66,410 residents, a median age of 46.1, and a median household income of $59,550 (2019). With its affordable lots and housing, North Port has been in high demand in the last 10 years as evidenced by the increased population.

The school system in North Port is the Sarasota County Public Schools, one of the top-rated school systems in the state. North Port has its own high school, two middle schools, and five elementary schools. There are also several universities and colleges within an hour drive of North Port, including Florida Gulf Coast University and State College of Florida (Venice). There are also three technical colleges: Suncoast Technical College, Southern Technical College, and Charlotte Technical College.
