The City of Cape Coral which lies across the river from Ft. Myers is the largest city in Lee County with a current population of 174,000. Once just a collection of cattle ranches, fishing villages and vacant land, the city was developed in the 1950's by the Rosen Brothers and named Cape Coral. The city features over 400 miles of canals and borders the Caloosahatchee River. Waterfront living is the norm with lots of boating, sailing, fishing and water activities to keep you busy along with the finest in shopping, dining and cultural activities. Cape Coral is still home to thousands of vacant buildable lots at very good prices.
